Weekend with Chuck

So this past weekend we braved the frigid weather and went to Nashville for our nephew Jackson's fifth birthday party. I can't believe Jackson is already 5!! He had his party at Chuck E Cheese and there were SIX other birthday parties while Jackson's was going on. It was WILD!! Here are a few shots of the party. James was a little overwhelmed at first but warmed up to the small rides. He enjoyed giving Chuck E a hug on some photo ride and then just thought he would play with his tokens.

Jackson was the coolest kid with a birthday though, because he had the best cake. Jackson requested a haunted house cake in the middle of January and Dianne came through with the awesome cake you see. All the other birthday party kids kept coming over to stare and Jackson's cake. Linley especially enjoyed the cake...

Motor Trends and Tomatoes

A couple of nights ago, James found Jim's Motor Trend magazine (which still likes my new car by the way - woohoo!n). James picked it up and started flipping through the pages. He would point to the car on each page and proclaim, "Car" and then the "Car" on the next page, and so on. We managed to get some of it on video, especially when Jim started asking James what color the cars were. What I didn't capture on the video was when James pointed to the head shot of the older Japanese man (who owned some car company) and said "daddy." Nice.

Also the word of the day is Tomato. James pointed to it in a book today and said clear as day to me "Tomato." Lately, I hear at least one new word from him a day.

Christmas 2008 continued

Meme and Poppie came for the New Year and we got to have Christmas all over again. James wanted to open everyone's presents, not just his own. I have a feeling that won't change for several years. The favorite gift was the little learning laptop from Meme and Poppie. Here is a shot of James and Spencer enjoying their laptops. And then, a couple of nights after getting his laptop, James noticed his dad getting on his computer. James went to his toy area, got his laptop, and went and sat with his dad so they could have computer time together. It was very cute. The second shot is of the shared computer time.

Thanks for all the toys and gifts Meme and Poppie!!

Fun with Mexican Food

To satisfy my, um, craving we got cheap and yummy Mexican while Jim's family was here. The kids had a great time with the straws. I couldn't resist sharing these pictures.

Christmas 2008

Here are a few shots from Christmas. For Christmas Eve we hosted our first Gumbo party and had a great time. James enjoyed playing with all the kids that came. On Christmas morning, we played with the toys Santa brought and then went to see what Santa brought Spencer. Then we had a long nap before Gee, Grandaddy, Darrell, Dianne, Jackson and Linley arrived.

Merry Christmas to all! Meme and Poppie are here so new shots are coming...
